Verma panel submits report to home ministry

Justice JS Verma committee, set up to propose amendments to laws relating to crime against women, on Wednesday submitted its report to the home ministry.

Retired Chief Justice JS Verma, who headed the panel, said that strict punishment would act as a deterrent to prevent sexual harassment and assaults against women. The panel also called for reforms in how police treat rape victims.  Here are some of the key issues taken up by the panel:
