Appoint woman officers to probe rape cases: court

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the State government to appoint, as practicable as possible, woman investigating officers in all the rape cases.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen and Justice B.V. Nagarathna issued the direction while hearing a Public Interest Litigation petition filed by Bangalore-based advocate M.K. Vijayakumar seeking separate legislation to deal with rape cases.
